Introducing the 2018 Event
“Preparing for Tomorrow Today”
Preparing for Tomorrow Today
Our industry has a knack of adapting to change and meeting challenges head on. The 2018 EPIC conference is set to explore our preparations for the next phase in the Brexit era we all find ourselves in. Our 2017 conference considered what Brexit might hold for our industry and how we might prepare to stand on our own two feet to compete with the rest of Europe, globally but also within the UK. However, our industry cannot afford to wait for politicians to fine tune the Brexit landscape – we have to prepare for tomorrow today!
British food and farming remains on the brink of a major upheaval. Brexit is changing the world as we know it and, especially for traditionally unsupported areas of agriculture, such as egg and poultry meat production, the challenges are enormous. Trading relations are set to change, access to labour is a growing threat and the industry will have to adapt to a new set of home-made regulations. This presents enormous challenges in terms of productivity, marketing and technical development as the sector aims to remain viable, while meeting consumers’ and society’s wider expectations.
Many of us might have hoped for more clarity by now but in the meantime EPIC 2018 will discuss what our industry should be doing now to prepare for tomorrow, whatever it might bring.
Our hope is that the conference will explore how we are planning and preparing to win, and win consistently in this turbulent era. It will need effectiveness and efficiency and we are looking to our programme of speakers to share their views on how this can be achieved. We have brought together a wide variety of informed and entertaining speakers to help us explore these topics, ranging from Government to our own industry and also a wider farming and business environment. We have also again invited some more “Young Guns” from our industry to give their perspective as they look forward to a long career in poultry
We welcome your participation, to meet with colleagues from across the industry and to explore our theme from your specific area of expertise and experience in November to help us all to Prepare for Tomorrow Today!
I look forward to welcoming you again to Celtic Manor.
