The 2019 Poultry Person winner is Geoff Buchanan, joint Managing Director for Gressingham Foods.
Having read Agriculture at Reading University (1988 to 1991) he specialised in farm management for his final year. His first role was with Harvest Poultry which gave a broad overview of all aspects of poultry production.
He joined the family Gressingham business in 1992, initially involved in the farming side, then relocating the duck breeder flocks from Cumbria to Suffolk and developing the unique Gressingham breed. In 2004 he became Joint Managing Director for the business prior to the acquisitions of the Kerry Foods and Manor Farm duck businesses in 2006/7.
Geoffrey is currently Managing Director – Operations overseeing both farms and factories.
