Steven Pack, The Cheshire Egg Company

Steven is a fourth-generation egg farmer from Cheshire. Starting in 1931 the Pace’s farm has always strived to do as much as possible for their birds, this began with utilising their own arable crops to feed their hens. This has continued to this day and the business still mills and mixes their own feed, in addition to this they rear their own replacement pullets and grading and marketing their own eggs.

Before coming back home to the family farm Steven studied for his PhD at the University of Leeds. His research focused on the use of enzymes in laying hen diets.

During Steven’s time at the family farm, the business has expanded its free range and rearing flocks, introduced a new water treatment system, improved the feed mills capacity and most recently increased their egg grading capabilities.

In 2016 Steven won the NFU’s Poultry Industry Program (PIP) Award and the EPIC Young Poultry Person of the Year – The Clive Frampton Memorial Award (2016).
