Graeme has a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology and PhD in Fish Diseases from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.

He retired from Aviagen UK in 2018 after 10 years as General Manager. Prior to Aviagen he spent most of his career in the aquaculture industry in Managing Director and Technical roles including Marine Harvest Scotland, Skretting (UK and Ireland), Selonda SA (Non-Hellenic businesses – sea bass and bream) and as an aquaculture consultant.

Graeme has a strong knowledge of animal protein production and markets, especially for poultry and fish. During his tenure within Aviagen he was actively involved in supporting the wider poultry industry and served as President of ELPHA (European Live Poultry and Hatching Egg Association), President of European Poultry Breeders (EPB) and as a member of the Management Board of the British Poultry Council (BPC).

In semi-retirement Graeme has set up a consultancy offering services to the animal protein industry including being appointed as Chairman of the British Poultry Council. In his spare time, he participates in numerous sporting activities.
